Dr. Julie Prutsman, Au.D., FAAA
Julie Prutsman, owner and founder of Sound Relief Hearing Center, is a third-generation audiology professional. Her family entered the field of hearing health care in the 1950s. Julie earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Marietta College (1996), her master’s degree in speech, language, and hearing sciences from the University of Colorado (1999), and her doctoral degree in audiology from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry’s School of Audiology (2003). Dr. Prutsman is a member of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology, American Academy of Audiology, Colorado Academy of Audiology, and American Tinnitus Association.
Julie grew up in Highlands Ranch and graduated from Highlands Ranch High School. Her husband, Patrick, works as the General Manager for Sound Relief, and they have two wonderful children, Ethan and Hanna. In her free time, Julie loves to read, travel, ski, and spend time with family.
Patrick “the other half” is the General Manager and co-founder of the Sound Relief Hearing Center with Dr. Julie. Patrick earned his bachelor’s degree in history from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. He spent the previous 16 years selling pipe and fire hydrants.
Patrick, Julie, Ethan, Hanna, their two dogs, and
22 21 17 16 chickens live in Sedalia. He enjoys swimming, mountain biking, snowboarding, and family time in the beautiful Colorado Rockies.
Dr. Thea Wickey, Au.D.
Thea is our Scottsdale audiologist, and she is passionate about audiology and helping patients achieve a better quality of life. Experiencing the challenges of severe hearing loss firsthand alongside her beloved grandfather, Dr. Wickey was drawn to this field at a very young age. She received her bachelor’s degree in audiology and speech-language sciences from the University of Northern Colorado in 2007 and her doctoral degree in audiology from the University of Northern Colorado in 2011.
Outside of audiology, Thea enjoys spending time with her husband (Kyle), their three young children (Haakon, Annika, and Kjerstin), and their golden retriever (Rio). She also enjoys exercise, traveling, and cooking.
Dr. Kaela Fasman, Au.D., CCC-A
Kaela earned a bachelor’s degree in speech, language, and hearing sciences from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and a clinical Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.) from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Dr. Fasman is dedicated to providing excellent care and improving the quality of life of her patients and their families. She values her opportunity to help people live healthier and happier lives through improved communication and tinnitus relief. She enjoys educating friends, family, and patients about tinnitus and hearing loss.
Kaela and her husband moved to beautiful Denver in 2016. She enjoys hiking, exploring new cities, and baking on the weekends. She and her husband are avid coffee drinkers and can be found in cafes around town.
Dr. Leah Mitchell, Au.D.
Leah has been licensed and working in Colorado as an audiologist since 2004. She earned her bachelor’s degree in communicative disorders from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh (2001), her master’s degree in audiology from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point (2003), and her doctoral degree in audiology from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry’s School of Audiology (2007). Prior to joining the Sound Relief team, she worked at an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) office, a private practice, and at the Department of Veterans Affairs. She enjoys seeing how her patients’ relationships and quality of life can be improved through better hearing and the management of tinnitus.
Dr. Mitchell has lived in Thornton since 2004, after escaping the winters in her home state of Wisconsin. She enjoys spending as much time as possible in the Colorado outdoors with her husband, Tyler, and two energetic daughters, Evelyn and Etta.
Dr. Lindsay Collins, Au.D.
Lindsay earned a Bachelor of Science degree in speech, language, and hearing sciences from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, in 2008 and her doctoral degree in audiology from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas, in 2013. She experiences true enjoyment in helping her patients improve their relationships and their quality of life through better hearing and tinnitus management.
A Texas native, Lindsay and her husband, Kyle, moved to Colorado in the summer of 2012 to take advantage of all the state has to offer. Outside of audiology, she likes to spend time outdoors hiking, fishing, camping, and exploring with her husband, their son (Jaxon), and their two dogs (Luna and Shadow). She also enjoys exercise and is a certified Zumba instructor.
Dr. Collins is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, from which she received her Certificate of Clinical Competence. She also holds a license in audiology from the State of Colorado.
Dr. Christine Russell, Au.D.
Christine Russell has been serving northern Colorado’s audiology needs since 2009. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in speech, language, and hearing sciences from the University of Colorado at Boulder and went on to complete her Doctorate of Audiology at the University of Northern Colorado.
Dr. Russell has experience working in clinical settings, private practice, educational audiology, and most recently as an account manager for a large hearing aid manufacturer. She has addressed the hearing health needs of people of all ages, and she brings her broad range of experience and knowledge in fitting hearing aids, aural rehabilitation, and tinnitus treatment back to the clinic. Her desire is to deliver exceptional hearing healthcare with a personal touch.
Christine lives in Windsor with her husband and two daughters.
Dr. Jackie Smith, Au.D.
Jackie prides herself on providing excellent patient care and improving the quality of each patient’s life through better hearing and tinnitus relief. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from the University of Colorado and earned her Doctorate of Audiology at the University of Northern Colorado. Dr. Smith has worked in a variety of clinical settings including private practice, Ear Nose and Throat (ENT), and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
Jackie is a Colorado native and an avid hockey fan. She enjoys being a new mom to her son Will along with her husband Billy and beagle Madison.
Dr. Abby McMahon, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA
Abby received her undergraduate degree from University of Kansas and her Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.) from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. She has been awarded the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a Fellow with the American Academy of Audiology. She is the Past President of the Colorado Academy of Audiology and has been on several other boards related to audiology. She loves working with patients and their families helping them achieve the best quality of life they can through excellent hearing healthcare!
A Fort Collins native, Abby is thrilled to be back in her hometown taking care of people in her community. When she is not at work, she is busy chasing after her two young (and busy) toddler boys, two dogs and hanging out with her family! She loves spending time outdoors hiking, skiing and snowboarding, camping, and gardening.
Dr. Drew Price, Au.D., FAAA
Drew earned her Doctorate in Audiology from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL, and completed her Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. As a second generation audiologist, she has grown up seeing firsthand how important hearing wellness is to quality of life.
Drew is also a Pastor’s Kid, so she grew up in Florida, Arkansas, and finally landed in Louisiana, where her family still resides. Drew fell in love with Colorado at a very early age, so she knew this state would eventually become her home. She moved here in 2015 to finish her Doctor of Audiology residency at UC Health and has been here since! In her free time, she enjoys hiking, skiing, cooking, traveling and live music.
Dr. Kate Landowski, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA
Kate grew up in Wisconsin where she received both her Bachelor of Science and Doctorate of Audiology degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She moved to Colorado in 2017 where she has been able to pursue biking, snowboarding, hiking, and camping in the beauty of the mountains. When not in the outdoors, she can be found trying out new restaurants in the area with her boyfriend, Pat. She enjoys getting to know each patient to be able to help them find relief from their tinnitus. She is excited to see what research and technology will provide in the coming years to continue to help patients improve their communication.
Dr. Tony Kovacs, Au.D., FAAA
Originally from Chicago, Tony moved to Colorado in 2012 to pursue his Doctorate after many years of touring as the lead vocalist in his punk rock band Shot Baker. He was recently featured in a story by NPR which highlighted his hearing conservation work with musicians. Click here for more information.
Tony earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in ‘Audio Arts and Acoustics’ from Columbia College Chicago (2005), his Bachelor of Science degree in ‘Audiology and Speech-Language Sciences’ from University of Northern Colorado (2014) and his Doctor of Audiology degree from University of Northern Colorado (2018). His experience as a touring musician offers him a unique perspective and approach to the field of audiology. He believes preventive hearing healthcare deserves at least as much attention as rehabilitation.
In addition to playing music and helping folks with their hearing healthcare needs, Tony enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, and camping with his wife, Lisa, and their chocolate lab, Bodhi.
Dr. Kenzie Phillips, Au.D.
Kenzie is a Colorado native who earned her bachelor’s degree in speech, language and hearing sciences from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She then went on to complete her Doctorate in Audiology at Northwestern University in Chicago.
Kenzie has enjoyed practicing audiology in a range of clinical settings. During her audiology residency, she had the opportunity to work at the National Institutes of Health, where she conducted hearing research in patients with complex medical needs and disorders. These experiences developed her passion for hearing and have translated into dedication to improving patients’ quality of life by providing treatment options for both hearing loss and tinnitus.
Outside of audiology, she likes to spend time skiing and fishing in Winter Park, hiking, practicing yoga, and playing with her energetic family dog, Joey.
Brenda A. Garcia, BC-HIS
Brenda has been licensed in Colorado as a National Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist since 2001. She has experience working in various clinical settings throughout the Denver area and the Western Slope. Brenda’s passion for helping her patients is evident in the time she takes to understand each person’s goals to enable them to achieve better hearing. She enjoys reconnecting people to the sounds they have been missing and enriching their quality of life. Brenda is a member of the International Hearing Society and is President Elect of the Colorado Hearing Society. She has been an active board member since 2016.
Brenda is a proud Colorado native from Cortez and moved to Denver in 2006. She enjoys both the country life as well as city living. Her favorite activities are fishing, camping, snowboarding, hiking, traveling and enjoying the many craft breweries of Colorado. Brenda lives in Highlands Ranch with her wife Carrie and their dog Jack.
Jerry Brungardt, BC-HIS
Jerry understands the challenges that his patients experience, because he has been wearing hearing devices for more than a decade to correct his own high-frequency hearing loss. He also uses Sound Therapy to relieve the effects of his tinnitus. As a National Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist and former president of the Colorado Hearing Society, Jerry is dedicated to his goal of helping people who experience what he and tens of millions of other Americans do: hearing loss.
Jerry married his high school sweetheart; they have two sons and four grandsons. He and his family moved from northeast Kansas to the front range in the mid-1990s, fulfilling life-long dreams for him and his wife. He has been a genealogist all of his adult life, and his wife has been an amateur photographer just as long; their passions complement each other. Jerry feels that family and helping people are his highest callings in life.
Amy is our controller, in charge of accounts payable and receivable. She studied accounting at St. Louis University. She moved to Denver in 1998, and prior to joining our team, she was the controller for a general contractor for over 13 years. An innovative and driven accounting professional, Amy enjoys working for family-owned and operated businesses. She strives to learn new ways of doing things and takes on challenges that are sometimes out of her comfort zone.
Amy lives in Waterloo, IL with her husband, Travis, and their two children, Paige and Cainen. She loves spending time with her family, hiking, skiing, and reading.
Cyndi has been the patient care coordinator for our Highlands Ranch office since January 2014. She moved here from southern California in 1994 with her husband and two sons. She loves spending time with her friends and her family, especially her nine-year-old grandson, and is very excited about her new granddaughter!

Jamee is the patient care coordinator at our Centennial office. She grew up in Nebraska and attended Brigham Young University, studying psychology. She enjoys working with such a wonderful group of professionals who make such a huge difference in people’s lives. Jamee also loves getting to know so many of our patients.
Jamee is married with three children and spends much of her free time attending her kids’ sporting activities. She also enjoys reading, traveling, spending quality time with her family, and walking her dogs.
Linda is the patient care coordinator at our Golden office, and she has extensive experience in customer service. Originally from Belleville, Illinois, she moved eight times corporately before settling here in 1999 with her husband and two kids. Linda came for a vacation and fell in love with the mountains! She spends time reading, traveling, and visiting with family and friends. Her three-year-old twin grandchildren are Linda’s focus, and she has another grandbaby due in March!

Stephanie handles all of our insurance claims at Sound Relief. She graduated from Lindenwood University in Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management and has a strong background with insurance and healthcare administration. Stephanie has experience in the administrative and clinical side of healthcare, in both the hospital and private practice setting. She loves being able to help patients utilize and maximize their healthcare benefits in this ever-changing insurance world.
Stephanie enjoys spending time with her large family – especially her nieces and nephew, traveling, and practicing yoga. She currently lives in the Midwest with her sweet pup Stormi, and they are always on an adventure to find new hiking spots! She travels often to Colorado and plans to someday call the beautiful mountains home!
Kimberly has been the Patient Care Coordinator in Highlands Ranch since April 2017. Kimberly grew up in Iowa and is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, go Panthers! She has been a Colorado resident for 20 years and loves the weather here. Kimberly, her husband Jacob, kids; Natalie and Preston and her mom Deb live in Castle Rock. Kimberly enjoys traveling, volunteering at her kid’s school, scrapbooking and spending time with her family and friends.
Renee has been the Patient Care Coordinator in our Highlands Ranch office since March, 2018. Renee grew up in Southern California and made the move to beautiful Colorado in 2004.
Renee enjoys traveling, hiking, golfing, baking, crafting, and sharing a great meal with friends. She can always be found cheering on her kids during their weekend activities.
Renee and her two children; Hannah and Harris live in Highlands Ranch and enjoy all aspects of living in a close knit community.
Kelsey is the patient care coordinator at our Fort Collins office. She grew up in the Chicagoland area before moving to Fort Collins in 2011. She loves spending time with her growing family of 10 siblings and 11 nieces and nephews. She loves working with people and has found a true passion in caring for people and animals alike. Kelsey enjoys volunteering and fostering for local dog shelters and spending time with her Great Dane and rottweiler, Roux and Hallie. Kelsey tries to be outdoors whenever possible to take advantage of Colorado’s hiking, backpacking, camping and kayaking.
