Lyric Hearing selects Sound Relief Hearing Center as One of Only Four Premier Providers in ColoradoLyric is the first 100% invisible hearing aid  with extended wear capabilities. It is comfortably placed in the ear canal by a Lyric certified audiologist and can be worn 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for up to 4 months at a time.1 No surgery or anesthesia is required. Unlike many other hearing aids, Lyric is positioned completely inside the ear canal, so it uses your ear’s natural anatomy to funnel sound to your eardrum. This unique design and placement helps reduce background noise and feedback and provides exceptionally natural sound quality. Because it remains in the ear canal 24/7 for months at a time, you don’t need to worry about daily hassles like putting the device on or taking it off, or changing batteries, so you can forget about your hearing loss and spend time connecting with friends and loved ones.

Frequently asked questions about the Lyric device

Can I use headsets or earbuds with Lyric®?
External headphones and external hearing protection can be used. Do not use inserted headsets, earbuds, or earplugs, because they may dislodge the device. Standard iPod® earphones may be used.
Will an MRI, X-ray, or CT scan damage Lyric or place my ear at risk?
Lyric must be removed before you have an MRI. Unlike an MRI, an X-ray or CT scan will not damage or dislodge the device because a magnet is not used. However, you should inform the physician and/or technician about the Lyric device. If an X-ray or CT scan of the ear or head is needed, the device may need to be removed. Let your physician know that you are wearing Lyric if you are having surgery or a medical procedure of any kind.
Can I fly on a plane with Lyric?
Yes. It is safe to fly while wearing Lyric.
Can I take my Lyric device out myself?
Will Lyric set off a metal detector?
No. Lyric’s metal components are too small to set off metal detectors.
Do I have to return to Sound Relief Hearing Center each time I want a new device?
Patients will be required to return to their Lyric trained hearing professional’s office approximately 5 times a year for replacement devices.
Can I use my cell phone or home phone while wearing Lyric?
Yes, one of the benefits of Lyric’s placement is that it can be worn while talking on the cell phone or home phone. In fact, Lyric can be worn during your daily activities – such as sleeping, showering, exercising, and using headphones.
What is the life of my Lyric device?
Lyric can be worn for months at a time. However, individual replacement needs will vary as device battery life is subject to individual ear conditions.
What should I do if my ear hurts?
You may experience some initial mild discomfort. If discomfort continues or pain develops, call your Lyric trained hearing professional.
What do I do when my ear itches?
Do not move Lyric around. If your ear gets itchy, gently massage the side of your face, in front of the ear. If your ear continues to itch, or if the skin becomes irritated, return to your Lyric trained hearing professional immediately for evaluation.
How do I clean earwax from my ears while Lyric is in place?
Do not attempt to remove earwax from your ear canal while Lyric is in place. Do not use cotton swabs. During device replacement visits, your Lyric trained hearing professional will clean earwax from your ear or refer you to have it cleaned.
